Bio

Dr. Ali is a Research Associate Professor in the CEE Department.   He is the Director of the Green Paving Laboratory.  Dr. Ali joined FIU in 2011 as a Green Paving Professor of Practice.  Dr. Ali has 26 years of pavement, materials and geotechnical engineering experience in a variety of design and construction projects in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Maryland, Texas and Qatar.  Dr. Ali specializes in pavement engineering and management.  His recent research focuses on sustainable pavements, pavement recycling, asphalt mix design, pavement surface characterization, pavement mitigation of sea level rise, pavement preservation and robotics.  He is the inventor of 3-Dimensional Paving and currently working to develop the technology.  Dr. Ali's interests include Work Force Development.  He developed and instructed in several professional educational programs including the Paving Academy, Construction Training and Qualification Program and Maintenance of Traffic training.
